24 week doctor visit
The doctor's visit went well today. I heard the baby's heartbeat and learned the reason whey I haven't felt a lot of movement is because I have an anterior placenta. That means the baby is behind my placenta instead of in front of it. I was glad to learn that, because I'm tired of reading on the Internet about people less far along than I am who are constantly feeling their baby kick and roll. I've gained a total of 17 pounds, and my blood pressure wasn't low like last time. I've only got three more weeks left of the second trimester -- crazy!
We've gotten several items on our to-do list done. I just now ordered the crib (yay!), and the Habitat for Humanity people are coming on Thursday to pick up the guest bedroom furniture that's now in the nursery. We've also signed up for the childbirth preparation class and the baby basics class at the hospital in June. I finally finished registering at Target and Babies R Us, thank God. It's crazy how much knowledge I've crammed into my head about baby products. My brain was completely fried. I have a shower on June 2 at Suzanne's house that I'm really looking forward to. It'll be nice to have all of my close friends in one room again. There's still a lot to do, but I'm feeling good about it. The one major thing we can't seem to make any progress on is finding a name. I'm not as worried about it as Gentry. I think we have plenty of time, but he wants to pick one out now. I went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday and there were lots of cute babies being carried around in their Moby wraps and whatnot by their mommas and daddies. I'm looking forward to having my own to carry!
