(Almost) 35 Week Ultrasound

I'm so happy to report that we received great news yesterday at our follow-up ultrasound with the high-risk doctor. Baby weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces, which the doctor said was good and was in the 36th percentile. The measurements on her head and abdomen were normal, and there was plenty of water in her amniotic fluid (which may have something to do with the gallon of water I've been drinking every day). Plus, we found out she has lots of hair! Which is funny considering neither of us had hair when we were born. The doctor said the only negative thing was that she was still breech. I liked this ultrasound technician sooo much better than the mean one at Dr. Lowman's office. Plus, she warmed the goo for me that they put on your belly. So, we're so relieved that she's healthy and growing!

34 Week Ultrasound & Doctors Appointment

So, Thursday we had our ultrasound, and found out baby weighs 4 pounds, 9 ounces. This is in the 27th percentile for weight, so she's small, but the doctor said anything not in the teens is OK. They said average weight now would be 5 pounds, 2 ounces. The doctor said her head and abdomen are measuring smaller than normal, so she wants us to go see the high-risk doctor for an ultrasound to monitor everything. But, she said that doesn't mean birth defects or anything bad, just that she's small. The only bad scenario, she said, would be if baby does not continue to grow in upcoming weeks.
Baby is also breech, so there's a possibility I could need to have a c-section if she doesn't turn. My belly measured 32 cm, compared to the 28 cm two weeks prior. A normal measurement for 34 weeks is between 32-36, so I'm on the small, but normal side.
We have our ultrasound with the high-risk doctor on Wednesday. So, it's good news that the baby is growing, and there's nothing to be alarmed about, but I'm still worrying a little. Gentry said the doctor's appointment made him feel better about things.

32 Week Update

I can't believe I'm only 8 weeks away having this baby! Crazy stuff. I have a few updates for you. Last weekend, I had my baby shower hosted by Amy, Ashley, Suzanne and Dorie at Suzanne's house. It was awesome, and great to have so many of my favorite people in one room. Baby E got a stroller, baby tub and lots of other goodies.
On Monday, Gentry and I had our first of four childbirth preparation classes at Athens Regional. I really liked the nurse who teaches it. If they're all as nice as her at the hospital, I think we'll be good. We watched a video about the different stages of labor and did some relaxation techniques at the end. I think Gentry got more out of the class than I did, since I've been consumed with all things pregnancy for the last seven months I knew a lot of it, but a lot of it was new for him. It definitely makes it more real to see the birth video and all that!
I had my 32 week doctor's appointment on Thursday. The doctor measured my stomach, and she said I was measuring a little small from where I'm supposed to be. She said this could be happening just because the baby is positioned differently, but she's going to have me get an ultrasound at my next appointment in two weeks just to be sure. She didn't seem that worried about it, and neither was I at the time.
But, that night we started looking things up on the web about low fetal weight, and it started to freak us out that there may be something wrong. I'm sure it's not, but I'm glad we're getting an ultrasound done just to be sure. Hopefully, baby will be healthy and all is well. I definitely feel like my belly is getting bigger, so I think it was just the way she was positioned. I heard her heartbeat and everything else was good.
I can't remember the exact number of pounds they've told me I've gained since being pregnant -- I think it was 24 or 25? It'll be good to get to see the baby again when we have the ultrasound. I'm sure she will have changed quite a bit in the 14 weeks since our last one.
On the nursery front, I've decided to get this wall decal. Of course, we can't order it until we've decided on a name.
